Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Natural Language Processing (NLP) is the field of AI focused on getting computers to understand and produce human language. It is the technology behind search engines reading your content, chatbots answering questions, and AI systems summarizing a page. NLP is how a machine turns your words into meaning it can act on.

What it is

Natural Language Processing is the branch of AI that deals with language: reading it, interpreting it, and generating it. Every time a search engine works out what a page is really about, or an AI assistant answers in fluent sentences, NLP is doing the work. Large language models are the most powerful NLP systems we have today.

Why it matters

NLP is why writing for machines and writing for people have started to converge. Older search relied on exact keywords; modern NLP understands meaning, synonyms, and context, so clear, well-organized writing now reads well to both audiences. The cleaner and more coherent your language, the more accurately NLP-driven systems can understand and represent you.

What to do

Write in clear, complete sentences that state ideas plainly instead of stuffing keywords. Structure content with logical headings and definitions, and answer the actual question a reader is asking so language models can parse your meaning without guessing.
